What's your reality?

Ok, so you know us dreammers, we LOVE new technology - especially when we can see that it has lots of neat applications. Recently we've been experimenting with Augmented Reality (mixed reality).

Augmented Reality is a type of virtual reality that combines images, video and text with a real-life environment - providing a heightened or even modified experience.

For example, with an augmented reality application installed on your phone you could use it to provide historical data about your surroundings. You'd simply have to point your phone in the direction of something you were intersted in and up would pop some additional information. Both Google's Android and Apple's iPhone already have this capability.

In terms of marketing and engagement, the effects of augmented reality should not be underestimated. There are several simple ways in which augmented reality can be introduced with maximum effect:

  • Create a visually stunning web-presence which incorporates an augmented reality feature. All the user has to do is print of an augmented reality marker, hold it up to the their web cam and they become immersed (and impressed) with your product. GE recently used such a campaign to market their Smart Grid.
  • Print leaflet, flyers, business cards with an augmented reality marker - this can then be help up to a web cam and the participant can see your animation - this could be 3d model of the human body showing the path and effects of a particular drug, a 3d model version of a new car, a new twist on traditional baseball cards, or it could also be a competition with each card having different markers - maybe with "sorry" and "winner" animations and effect.
  • Create an augmented reality book, which by using a web cam, headset or phone allows you to create an immersive and interactive user experience.
  • Provide a fun way of engaging conference delegates by creating an augmented reality on stage. Or, send people on augmented reality treasure hunts .
  • There are new ideas emerging all of the time - we don't know yet what the future will look like, but we're excited to be a part of it.

Give us a call, or drop us an email to find out more on how augmented reality could help your business.
